Stress-Related Health Conditions

Stress can be good for us, when it motivates us to make positive changes in our lives. But often, stress overwhelms us and makes us sick. In fact, stress contributes to 75-90% of all doctor’s visits.

Stress can play a part in problems such as headaches, high blood pressure, insomnia, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, arthritis, depression, and anxiety. Stress weakens the immune system, making us more susceptible to infections. Stress alters our hormones and decreases our ability to cope.

As an ND, I determine what your stresses are, which stresses you can change (and which you can not). Then together we make a plan to decrease the stress in your life and learn to cope and manage the stresses you can not eliminate. We also evaluate your hormones such as adrenals and thyroid to restore a healthy, normal stress response in your body and mind.

Acupuncture is also a great tool for stress relief, as it reminds the body/mind how to “shut off” and rest deeply.
